不息 Everburning
This is a story starting from Xincheng street in Taipei. During 1970~1990, blacksmith streets stretched from Xincheng street to the Taipei rear station. It was the most prosperous period of time because of the ship demolition industry. Today, Xincheng street is the only street still existing as an agglomeration of the blacksmith and metal industries, suspended in time, waiting to be transformed by urban renewal at any moment. Can this blacksmith street really disappear? Disappearance is because of ever existence. How those existing facts, experiences, manual labor and connections are documented into memories and the transfer of space of the agglomeration economy will decide and become another existence. Everburning is the third year working-in-progress sharing of Blacksmith Project. We keep experimenting with the possibility of connecting the past and the future at present.
